Iran says it targeted 19 vessels crossing Strait of Hormuz illegally

Iran's Fars news agency, affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, reported that Iranian armed forces targeted 19 vessels described as "violating" regulations while crossing the Strait of Hormuz via unauthorized routes over the past two nights.

The agency said on Sunday, September 27, that the operations took place on Friday and Saturday evenings, with 12 vessels targeted on Friday night and 7 on Saturday night, according to a report accompanied by video footage showing a vessel on fire.

In the same context, Fars cited local reports stating that Iranian forces launched several cruise missiles and suicide drones from southern regions of the country toward commercial ships south of the Strait of Hormuz in recent hours.

The agency did not provide further details about the identity of the targeted vessels or their countries of origin.
