Morocco poses no threat to Ceuta, Spanish interior minister says

Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska has said that "Morocco does not pose a threat to Ceuta or the rest of Spain," describing Morocco as a reliable partner.

He added, according to Al-Sharq, that the situation in Ceuta has returned to normal, and "we do not tolerate those who break the law."

The interior minister emphasized that "the events require assessment by both Spain and Morocco; however, cooperation with its neighbors enabled Spain to bring the situation under control within 24 hours."

Earlier, the Spanish government said the death toll from the crisis at the Spanish enclave of Ceuta's border with Morocco had risen to 67 people.

Madrid also announced it is installing a containment barrier along the breakwater fence extending into the sea, after tens of thousands of migrants crossed into the small Spanish enclave this week.
