Iraqi PM says end of coalition mission does not end fight against terrorism

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi said that the conclusion of the international coalition's mission does not mean the end of Iraq's fight against terrorism.

Speaking during Sovereignty Day events, Al-Zaidi added that Iraq has entered a new phase and that the responsibility for protecting the country now rests on Iraqis. He stressed that no weapons will be allowed outside the framework of the law.

Al-Zaidi officially announced the end of the international coalition's mission to combat Daesh in Iraq during a ceremony organized by his office in Baghdad to mark Sovereignty Day. The event was attended by the coalition commander, as well as leaders from the military and security forces.
