Iran denies plotting to assassinate Trump’s son, calls claims fabricated

Iran’s national security chief Mohsen Rezaei has denied reports that his country planned to assassinate Barron Trump, the son of former US President Donald Trump, describing the allegations as “fabricated propaganda.”

Speaking on television today, according to Al Arabiya, Rezaei said these were “big lies that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu uses to manipulate Trump.” He added, “If we had decided (to assassinate him), nothing would have stopped us.”

Iranian media had published content threatening Trump and his family following the killing of former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several family members at the start of the war against Iran in late February.

Meanwhile, the US Secret Service confirmed it was aware of Iranian state media broadcasting a video that appeared to threaten Barron Trump’s life. Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring said in a statement, “The US Secret Service is aware of everything related to those we protect, and investigates anything that could be considered a threat to these individuals.”
