Spanish PM denies Morocco's role in Ceuta migrant influx

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has denied that Moroccan authorities were responsible for the recent influx of refugees into the city of Ceuta, following the arrival of around 80,000 migrants last month.

In an interview with Cadena SER radio, as reported by Spanish media, Sánchez said he had received no information from Spanish security forces or intelligence agencies suggesting Morocco was involved in the mass arrival of migrants.

Sánchez noted that investigations into the background of the crisis are still ongoing, and highlighted the spread of rumors and misinformation on social media, particularly after a Supreme Court ruling banned the immediate return of migrants who swim to Ceuta.

He added that criminal organizations have taken advantage of the situation, along with international far-right groups exploiting migration issues to attack Spain and Europe. Sánchez also mentioned that Russia and Israel have disseminated disinformation regarding the Ceuta crisis.
