Iranian Revolutionary Guard targets oil tanker over alleged illegal Strait of Hormuz passage

Iran's Revolutionary Guard announced it had targeted an oil tanker flying the Togo flag as it passed through the Strait of Hormuz, accusing the vessel of crossing the strait "illegally."

According to Iranian state media, the Revolutionary Guard's naval forces said the oil tanker, named Trend, stopped after a fire broke out on board.

The Revolutionary Guard added that "illegal passage through the Strait of Hormuz will only result in the destruction of the violating vessel," according to its statement.
