Iraq keeps trade and travel open with Iran through two border crossings

Iraq’s Border Crossings Authority has confirmed that travel and trade with Iran remain ongoing through the Zurbatiyah and Mundhiriya border crossings, adding that recent measures at several other crossings with Iran are temporary.

The Iraqi Security Media Cell stated that administrative and security arrangements are underway at a number of border points, while the Zurbatiyah and Mundhiriya crossings remain open for travelers.

Specialized security agencies have begun administrative and security procedures at several border crossings, leading to their closure, according to the Iraqi News Agency.

Authorities added that a series of legal measures will be implemented, with increased intelligence, investigation, and scrutiny to address violations at these crossings and to develop appropriate solutions.
