Syrian president: We seek security agreement, avoid confrontation with Israel

Syrian President Ahmed Al-Shara said his country is working to reach a security agreement with Israel, with the participation of several other nations.

In remarks to the press, Al-Shara stated that Syria is avoiding confrontation with Israel and has no interest in escalation. He added that a successful security agreement could pave the way for comprehensive peace without relinquishing Syria's rightful claim to the occupied Golan Heights.

According to the Syrian News Agency, Israeli forces recently shelled the outskirts of the village of Tranja in northern Quneitra province, firing four artillery shells at agricultural land near the village. No casualties or material damage were reported.

Israeli forces also advanced into the villages of Maariya and Al-Arida in the Yarmouk Basin area of western Daraa province, deploying three military vehicles and a bulldozer, and set up a military checkpoint inside Al-Arida. Leaflets were dropped in local towns warning residents not to block roads or impede the movement of Israeli vehicles.
