Political analyst outlines Islamic coalition-UK partnership to counter extremism

Political analyst Dr. Abdullah Al-Qahtani revealed on Al-Ekhbariya TV the main features of the partnership between the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition and the United Kingdom to address extremism, noting that the cooperation covers training, capacity building, research, media, combating terrorism financing, and strengthening technical and military collaboration.

Al-Qahtani explained that the partnership also includes developing programs and strategies to benefit the coalition’s 43 member states, particularly in efforts to confront extremism and curb its spread and funding.

This partnership comes as the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition, in cooperation with the UK’s Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies, concluded the “Conceptual Foundations and Emerging Challenges in Preventing and Countering Extremism” program.

The program was held at the coalition’s headquarters in Riyadh, attended by the coalition’s Secretary-General, Maj. Gen. Pilot Mohammed Al-Moghedi, and representatives from member states, as part of efforts to activate the partnership between the Islamic coalition and the UK and to enhance cooperation with specialized international institutions.

The program aims to develop the capabilities of member state representatives and boost their readiness to address the rapidly evolving patterns of extremism and its methods of dissemination and financing.
