Trump imposes tariffs of up to 100% on some imported drones

US President Donald Trump announced on Thursday the imposition of tariffs of up to 100 percent on certain imported drones and their components, in a move aimed at protecting national security, boosting domestic production, and reducing reliance on foreign supply chains.

Trump explained that the new tariffs will be set at 100 percent for specific drone systems, while smaller drones will face a 25 percent tariff.

He added that most of the new tariffs will take effect on September 3, as part of broader measures to strengthen American industries.

The White House also confirmed that the decision is part of the administration’s efforts to strengthen the domestic economy and improve the competitiveness of US companies in the advanced technology sector.
