Trump weighs immediate strike on Iranian energy sites as Israel heightens alert

The US administration is considering launching a new strike on energy and infrastructure facilities in Iran, as Israel raises its alert level in anticipation of possible military escalation amid ongoing tensions between Washington and Tehran.

According to the news site Axios, a US official said that Iranians "have been very aggressive in recent days," noting that President Donald Trump is considering issuing an immediate order for a strike targeting energy facilities inside Iran.

The report stated that the potential US bombing campaign would target energy and infrastructure sites, in an attempt to pressure Iran to accept American terms in ongoing ceasefire negotiations.

The report added that the strikes could see Israel participate for the first time in weeks, warning that such escalation might prompt Iran to launch missile attacks against Israel.

In Israel, the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported, citing sources, that the Air Force has heightened the alert status of its air defense systems.

Israeli Channel 12 also reported that Israel is on high alert in anticipation of a possible large-scale US attack on Iran, while assessments suggest the US may carry out a major strike without Israeli involvement.

Meanwhile, the White House told Israel's Channel 13 that "Iran will pay a heavy price until it comes to the negotiating table."
