Yemeni military attaché in Jordan Yahya Abu Hatim said Houthi forces are unable to manage the battlefield and have turned to planting landmines and explosives indiscriminately.

He told Al Hadath that the militias have suffered significant losses on various fronts, especially towards Taiz province, incurring heavy costs in both equipment and personnel. He added that Yemeni armed forces units have managed to neutralize them in recent days and weeks.

Abu Hatim said the momentum now favors the Yemeni armed forces across multiple fronts, with the most significant advances in Al-Jawf province, one of Yemen’s largest and most strategically important regions. He explained that Al-Jawf contains several key mountain ranges that the Houthis had used as strongholds, fortifying their positions with trenches, landmines, and other obstacles.

He added that Yemeni military units have advanced along two main axes: one from the direction of Raghwan and the Asdas camp and mountains towards Al-Jawf, and another towards the Huwaishan mountains, reaching the Bir Al-Maraziq area. This has left remaining Houthi camps, such as the Labnat camp, surrounded and isolated.

Abu Hatim continued that the Houthis lack air cover and the firepower possessed by the Yemeni armed forces, making them unable to manage the battle. As a result, in Al-Jawf, the Houthis have resorted to planting landmines and constructing numerous engineering barriers, including trenches and earthworks.
