Yemeni navy thwarts Iranian smuggling attempt and Houthi maritime attack

Yemen's navy on the western coast announced early Thursday it had thwarted a Houthi militia attack just hours after intercepting an Iranian smuggling boat carrying equipment bound for the Houthis.

According to a statement from the military media of the National Resistance, the navy detected five Houthi boats attempting to approach liberated islands overlooking international shipping lanes in the Red Sea and engaged them, as reported by Al Arabiya.

The statement confirmed that naval patrols clashed with the Houthi boats, forcing them to flee north toward the coast of Hodeidah.
