OIC condemns rising Israeli settler violence against Palestinians

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has strongly condemned the escalating violence and systematic crimes committed against Palestinian civilians by Israeli settlers, noting that these acts are carried out with direct support from Israeli occupation forces in the occupied Palestinian territories.

The organization highlighted that the towns of Tel in Nablus Governorate and Deir Jarir in Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate have recently witnessed serious violations, alongside the ongoing assault on the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in dozens of civilian deaths and injuries.

It added that the attacks have included the destruction of Palestinian property, the burning of agricultural lands and homes, and the theft of livestock, amid an intensifying wave of illegal settlement expansion in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Jerusalem.

The organization warned of the grave consequences of this escalation, stressing that such practices constitute a blatant violation of international humanitarian law, relevant international resolutions, and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice.

Call for accountability and protection of civilians

The organization's General Secretariat renewed its call for the international community and UN institutions, especially the Security Council, to fulfill their legal and moral responsibilities by providing international protection for the Palestinian people and holding Israeli forces and settlers accountable for organized crimes against unarmed civilians, in accordance with international criminal law.

The organization also urged all countries to continue efforts to dismantle the settlement system and its illegal entities in the occupied Palestinian territories.
