Chinese journalist: Beijing used economic influence to bring Iran back to talks

Chinese journalist Nader Rong said that his country used its economic influence to persuade Iran to return to negotiations.

Speaking on Al Arabiya FM, Rong added that China has been attempting this since the start of the US campaign against Tehran, which became evident during the initial days of talks between Washington and Tehran in Pakistan.

He continued that Beijing is maintaining pressure to convince both sides to return to the negotiating table, primarily through its economic leverage over Tehran.

These remarks come amid efforts by mediators to ease tensions between the United States and Iran, with Pakistan also pushing in this direction. However, Iran has insisted on preconditions before any negotiations begin, including Tehran's demand to control shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
