Yemeni minister: Houthis have failed to improve life in areas under their control

Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Muammar Al-Eryani said the Houthi group’s ongoing missile and drone attacks on Marib, along with assaults on armed forces in Marib and Hadramout, recall the period before the collapse of former Syrian President Bashar Assad’s regime, when Iran-backed militias escalated militarily to project strength and compensate for political and battlefield setbacks.

In a statement on his X account, Al-Eryani added that the Houthi attacks "are not evidence of the group’s strength or confidence in its future, but rather reflect its anxiety and attempts to impose its presence by force." He said the group "has failed to present any model of statehood or improve the lives of Yemenis in areas under its control, instead producing only war, hunger, and fear."

The Yemeni minister affirmed that the country’s armed forces, drawn from all provinces and military branches, have the will, experience, and readiness to confront these attacks and continue efforts to restore state institutions and end the coup. He noted that Yemenis’ growing awareness of the dangers posed by the Houthi project increases the chances of restoring the state.

Al-Eryani concluded by stressing that "the military escalation pursued by the Houthi group will not change the course of events," expressing his belief that Yemenis will achieve "national salvation" as seen in other regional experiences, and that restoring the state and ending the coup "is only a matter of time."
