Former Sa'iqa official: Hafez Al-Assad used group to divide Palestinians in Lebanon

Bilal Hassan, a former military official with the Sa'iqa organization in Lebanon, revealed that the group was used as an instrument by former Syrian President Hafez Al-Assad.

According to Al Arabiya, Hassan said Sa'iqa played a role in dividing and undermining Palestinian unity, pushing Palestinians toward internal conflict.

Hassan also disclosed his involvement in the kidnapping of late Lebanese President Bashir Gemayel, stating: "I kidnapped Bashir Gemayel," and describing the operation as frightening, with Gemayel repeatedly pleading, "Please, father."

Hassan, as cited by Al Arabiya, said he was instructed to prepare reports alleging Palestinian attacks on Christian sites in Lebanon, even when such incidents had not occurred, to provide Syria with a pretext to intervene in Lebanon.

The former Sa'iqa military official in Lebanon also criticized former President Hafez Al-Assad, saying he was "a rabbit in the Golan and a lion in Lebanon," and accused him of killing Lebanese, Palestinians, and Syrians under the pretext of protecting people.
