EU Commission president condemns ongoing Iran-backed attacks on Gulf states

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen on Monday condemned the "ongoing attacks" carried out by "Iran's proxies" in the Gulf region, following recent strikes by Yemen's Houthi militants on Saudi Arabia.

Von der Leyen wrote on X, "We stand in solidarity with our partners in the Gulf in the face of the ongoing attacks by Iran's proxies (...) We are all concerned."

For its part, Iran has denied any involvement in the conflict in Yemen, insisting that the Houthis are "completely independent."
