US sanctions 4 individuals, 9 firms for aiding Iran's shadow fleet

The US Treasury Department has imposed new sanctions on four individuals residing in India and nine companies for supporting Iran's shadow fleet.

The United States also issued a new advisory warning of the risks associated with vessels that may operate under false flags, according to Al Arabiya.

The US alert follows a sharp increase in the use of "fake flags and fraudulent maritime registries."
