CNN, citing a US official, has reported that President Donald Trump has instructed his senior envoys to halt their discussions with Iran. This move coincides with Trump's announcement that there are no ongoing or planned negotiations with Tehran, and his affirmation that the maritime blockade on Iranian ports remains in effect.

On Tuesday, Trump stated on Truth Social that "there are currently no talks or discussions underway or scheduled with Iran," emphasizing that "the maritime blockade remains fully in place and effective."

He added that the Strait of Hormuz "is open and operating normally," noting that all naval mines have been removed or detonated.

Trump's stance comes a day after he announced that the United States does not intend to extend the temporary memorandum of understanding with Iran, following the expiration of a 60-day period set for reaching a final agreement without any political breakthrough.

The memorandum, signed on June 17, stipulated negotiations to reach a final agreement within sixty days, with the possibility of extending the deadline by mutual consent.

The memorandum also included a gradual lifting of the US blockade and Iran's guarantee of safe passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz. However, the agreement collapsed amid renewed fighting and ongoing disputes over sanctions, navigation, and Iran's nuclear program, according to Reuters.
