The Zawiya refinery is located about 40 kilometers west of Tripoli and has a refining capacity of 120,000 barrels per day. It is connected to the Sharara oil field, which produces around 300,000 barrels per day.
Zawiya is Libya's largest operational refinery, as the Ras Lanuf refinery remains out of service.
