UN condemns settler attacks on Palestinians in West Bank

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned attacks by Israeli settlers on Palestinian communities in the occupied West Bank, including the arson of two mosques, property vandalism, and assaults on Palestinians.

Deputy Spokesperson Farhan Haq relayed Guterres's call for swift identification and accountability of those responsible, urging Israeli authorities to take immediate action to prevent settler attacks and ensure the protection of civilians and places of worship.

Meanwhile, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned that any Israeli takeover of a fourth refugee camp in the West Bank could have severe humanitarian consequences, noting that Israeli operations since last year have displaced more than 30,000 people from the Jenin, Tulkarm, and Nur Shams camps.

The United Nations also expressed concern over the Israeli forces' raid on the Qalandia Training Center, operated by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in East Jerusalem, stressing that the facility is protected under international law.

In Gaza, the UN reported ongoing airstrikes, shelling, and military operations, with more than 12 families displaced from eastern Gaza City. UN agencies and partners continue to provide humanitarian aid to those affected.
