Canada suspends trade talks with US

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that his country has decided to suspend trade negotiations with the United States, adding that he has instructed Canadian negotiators to return to Ottawa.

Carney also stated that Canada will impose tariffs equivalent to those imposed by the United States, according to Al Arabiya.

Last Wednesday, US President Donald Trump said he had reached a "very fair" trade agreement with Prime Minister Mark Carney, noting that this would mean American farmers and businesses would not pay any tariffs on their exports to Canada.
