Iran sanctions and economic pressure doomed to fail, says Araghchi

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that new sanctions and economic pressure on his country are doomed to fail, citing previous sanctions imposed on Iran as evidence.

In a post on the X platform, Araghchi wrote: "Fourteen years ago, the United States described the sanctions imposed on Iran as the most crippling in history, but they failed. Eight years ago, it launched a maximum pressure policy, which also failed. Five months ago, it spoke of unconditional surrender, and that too failed."

The foreign minister added: "We have seen this movie before. It's the same nonsense, only the bullies have changed."
