Iran affairs specialist Jafar Al-Hashemi said that Iran is betting on the possibility of exporting Russian gas through its territory, which could provide it with some limited options.

He told Al Arabiya FM that in recent times, after increased restrictions in the Gulf, Iran has turned eastward toward Russia and China. China supports Iran's stability, while political developments in the United States may have strengthened Russia's conviction of the need to support Iran at this stage.

Al-Hashemi added that Russia is providing logistical support to Iran, including supplying weapons and air defense systems. This is happening under the watchful eye of the United States, which has sought to pressure this channel that has become a vital source for securing nearly 30 to 40 percent of what Iran cannot import or export through the Arabian Gulf.

The Iran affairs specialist noted that the blockade is affecting Iran, which is constantly seeking to circumvent and respond to these restrictions by leveraging its energy resources and existing economic capabilities.
