US raises security alert for citizens in Middle East amid tensions

The United States has expanded its security warnings for citizens in the Middle East, urging Americans to exercise maximum caution and to consider leaving the region or preparing to do so, amid rising regional tensions and what it described as "unpredictable" Iranian behavior.

The US State Department on Saturday issued an alert to American citizens, noting that the security situation remains complex, with the possibility of unexpected escalation that could affect travel within the region.

The department explained that US citizens in the Middle East should increase their vigilance and be prepared for possible flight cancellations, temporary airspace closures, and travel disruptions.

It added that some airlines have postponed the resumption of their previous flight schedules, while others have canceled certain routes, which may impact travel options in the coming period.

In light of these developments, the State Department called on Americans in the region to consider departing or to be ready to leave in the event of further escalation.
