China urges US and Iran to show restraint, rejects sanctions approach

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that sanctions and pressure tactics do not help resolve problems, responding to US threats of new sanctions against Iran.

The ministry called on both the United States and Iran to act rationally and exercise restraint amid current tensions.

It added that China is closely monitoring developments and will take necessary steps to safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.

Beijing also emphasized the importance of dialogue and understanding in addressing international issues, rather than escalating unilateral measures.
