Netanyahu ties Gaza reconstruction to Hamas disarmament, forms task force

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office announced an agreement with the 'Peace Council' requiring Hamas to disarm before any reconstruction efforts begin in Gaza.

Netanyahu's office said the prime minister held what it described as in-depth and constructive discussions with the 'Peace Council,' resulting in the agreement that Hamas must disarm prior to any rebuilding in Gaza.

According to the statement, both sides also agreed to form a team tasked with overseeing the disarmament of Hamas.

In a related development, Al Hadath TV quoted an Israeli official as saying that Netanyahu has requested the appointment of an American officer to supervise the handover of Hamas's weapons.

The announcement comes as part of ongoing discussions between Netanyahu and the 'Peace Council' regarding Hamas's disarmament and the reconstruction of Gaza.
