Indonesia seizes 1.3 tons of ketamine worth over $100 million

Indonesian authorities have seized 1.3 tons of ketamine valued at over $100 million from a foreign-flagged ship, marking one of the largest drug seizures of its kind in Indonesia.

Suyudi Ario Seto, head of Indonesia's National Narcotics Agency, told the official Indonesian news agency that authorities received intelligence in February about a suspicious shipment. An Indonesian warship intercepted the vessel last Thursday as it entered Indonesia's territorial waters near the Riau Islands.

He stated that a joint team discovered 65 bags hidden on board on August 7. Medical and laboratory tests confirmed the bags contained ketamine. Eight crew members were detained, and investigations are ongoing.
