EU condemns Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia and Yemen, urges immediate halt

The European Union has strongly condemned the recent wave of Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and areas under the control of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, describing the targeting of civilians and civilian infrastructure as a dangerous escalation that threatens regional stability and undermines efforts to reach a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Yemen.

In a statement, the EU expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government, and extended its sincere condolences to the families of victims killed in attacks on civilian infrastructure in Najran and the city of Marib.

The EU stressed that targeting civilians and civilian facilities is unacceptable, and called for an immediate end to these attacks.

The EU said the latest attacks represent a serious escalation that could further destabilize the region and undermine ongoing political and diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in Yemen and achieve a sustainable peaceful settlement.

The EU called on the Houthi group to immediately halt all attacks inside and outside Yemen, emphasizing the need to de-escalate and create conditions conducive to advancing the peace process.

The EU reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Yemeni people and working with the United Nations, regional partners, and the international community to promote regional stability, de-escalation, and the achievement of a comprehensive and lasting peace.
