US embassy in Amman tightens security at malls, foreign missions after Karak attack

The US embassy in Amman said it is closely monitoring the terrorist attack on the Greek Orthodox church in Karak province, southern Jordan.

In a statement on Saturday, the embassy said, "Security measures have been tightened at shopping centers, foreign embassies, and other sites in Jordan following the attack," which took place on Friday.

Jordanian public security authorities announced on Friday that seven people were killed and around 40 injured when gunmen opened fire during a funeral at the church for a woman in the town of Hamoud.
