Trump warns Iran and Houthis of major military response after Saudi ships targeted

US President Donald Trump has warned that the United States will hold Iran responsible if the Houthis carry out further attacks on ships, describing the group as an "agent or representative of Iran" and vowing that any repeat of such attacks would be met with a "major military punishment" targeting both Iran and the Houthis.

In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump said the United States launched a strong attack on the Houthis a year ago in response to their interference with trade by firing on ships.

He added that since then, and during the ongoing conflict between the United States and Iran, the Houthis had "acted very responsibly," but "have now returned to their actions," noting that they "fired on two Saudi ships last night."

Trump stated: "I hope this fact serves as proof that if they repeat this act, the United States will hold Iran responsible, considering the Houthis as an agent or representative of Iran, and a major military punishment will be inflicted on Iran, and of course, on the Houthis themselves."
