Shipping traffic through Strait of Hormuz drops to six vessels: Kpler data

Shipping data showed that vessel traffic through the Strait of Hormuz dropped to six ships on Monday, compared to a 10-day average of about 11 vessels. This comes as hopes for an agreement between the United States and Iran have faded.

According to figures released by the Kpler platform on Tuesday, four ships carrying bulk commodities entered the waterway, including two empty tankers for oil products. The data also showed that two vessels—a small liquefied petroleum gas tanker and another carrying residual fuel—exited the strait.

Reuters reported that Kpler data indicated 25 ships passed through the Bab al-Mandab Strait on Monday, a figure largely unchanged from the 10-day average of about 24 vessels.

On Monday, US President Donald Trump responded to Iran’s conditions for a deal by demanding that Tehran pay compensation for deaths in wars, attacks, and protests. Trump’s proposal came in response to Iran’s demands for compensation and the lifting of sanctions—terms that largely matched a preliminary agreement signed in June, which has since collapsed.
