Iraq condemns attacks on Saudi East-West pipeline, launches urgent probe

The Iraqi government has condemned the attacks targeting Saudi Arabia, stressing its rejection of any act that threatens the Kingdom’s security and stability or undermines the strong fraternal ties between the two countries.

The government also praised Saudi Arabia’s response to Iraq’s efforts to contain the situation, describing it as a reflection of the Kingdom’s commitment to Iraq’s security and stability, and to strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation in the interests of both peoples.

Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, has ordered an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the attacks and those behind them, with legal action to be taken against anyone found responsible.

The Iraqi government affirmed it will continue working with regional partners to prevent such attacks from recurring, uphold the rule of law and good neighborly relations, and protect Iraq’s interests while enhancing its positive role in the region.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces emphasized that the state will not tolerate any activity that endangers Iraq or its relations with neighboring and friendly countries.
