Iraq condemns attacks on Saudi East-West pipeline, launches urgent probe

The Iraqi government has condemned the attacks that targeted the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, affirming its rejection of any act that threatens the Kingdom’s security and stability or undermines the strong fraternal ties between the two countries.

The government also praised Saudi Arabia’s response to Iraq’s efforts to contain the situation, describing it as a reflection of the Kingdom’s commitment to Iraq’s security and stability, and to strengthening the ongoing fraternal relations and cooperation that serve the interests of both peoples.

Prime Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, has ordered an urgent investigation into the circumstances of the attacks and the parties responsible, with legal action to be taken against anyone found to be involved.

The Iraqi government stressed that it will continue working with its brothers and friends to prevent such attacks from recurring, to uphold the rule of law and the principles of good neighborliness, and to protect Iraq’s interests and enhance its positive role in the region.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces emphasized that the state will not tolerate any activity that endangers Iraq or its relations with brotherly and friendly countries.
