Drone attack targets Libyan power station, halts production units

Libya's General Electricity Company has reported an explosion near the Zawiya power station, west of the capital Tripoli, which caused several production units to go offline.

In a statement, the company said its teams are working continuously to gradually restore electricity, adding that power supply is expected to return to normal levels soon.

Meanwhile, Libyan sources said the Harsha power station in Zawiya was targeted by a drone attack, without providing further details about those responsible or the extent of the damage.

This incident comes just days after the General Electricity Company announced that the South Zawiya transformer station had been attacked, resulting in a complete outage and widespread power cuts in southern areas of the city.

Last week, Zawiya also saw attacks on key infrastructure linked to the oil sector, including fuel storage tanks at the city's oil complex, which houses Libya's largest operational refinery.
