White House releases video game depicting migrant deportations

The White House, known for publishing controversial content to promote its anti-immigration policies, on Thursday released a video game depicting the deportation of undocumented migrants from the United States.

In a statement sent to Agence France-Presse defending the initiative, the White House said the game "further highlights the contrast between a culture of fun and winning, and the dark socialist vision Democrats have for America."

America Garcia Grewal, co-director of the Texas-based organization Frontera Federation, told AFP: "This disgusts me. They have manipulated people's lives for years, and now they are making a video game out of their actions."

The game, available on the official White House website, is inspired by the classic "Snake" game and features retro graphics.

Players control a character representing Tom Homan, President Donald Trump's senior adviser on immigration, who must collect as many people as possible who have crossed the Rio Grande at the US-Mexico border in order to deport them.

On Thursday, the White House also launched another online game titled "Defend the Border from the Oncoming Horde," inspired by the principles of the classic game "Tetris," in which players must build a wall along the border with Mexico.

Garcia Grewal said, "The designers of this game have lost sight of what it means to be human and to care for others."

Other games published on the White House website focus on Washington landmarks, school meals, and bank accounts created for children.
