Arab League condemns ongoing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon

The spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the Arab League has strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, which have targeted civilians in Nabatieh and other nearby villages and towns since the morning of August 15. The spokesperson described these actions as a blatant violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and a dangerous escalation that threatens to undermine any efforts to resolve the ongoing conflict and end the occupation. 

According to an official statement, the spokesperson stressed that these Israeli policies and practices clearly reveal the occupation's intent to prolong hostilities, obstruct negotiations, and impose an unacceptable new reality on the ground.

The spokesperson for the Secretary-General of the Arab League also warned of the risk of a wider confrontation if the international community, particularly the United States, does not intervene to immediately halt Israel's military actions and compel Israel to comply with UN Security Council Resolution 1701.

The spokesperson reaffirmed the Arab League's solidarity with Lebanon and its people, and its full support for the Lebanese state in facing all attacks that threaten Lebanon's security, stability, sovereignty, and civil peace.
