Trump pledges $5,000 for every US adult if Republicans keep Congress

Former US President Donald Trump has pledged to grant $5,000 to every American adult if Republicans maintain their majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the upcoming congressional midterm elections. The proposal, which Trump has dubbed the "Trump Dividend," is linked to what he described as economic success and significant revenue generated from tariffs.

According to estimates, the plan would cover around 240 million American adults, bringing the total potential payout to approximately $1.2 trillion.

Trump indicated that recipients would be required to spend the funds within the United States, justifying the pledge with the revenue produced by tariffs.

However, the proposal faces a legislative hurdle, as disbursing such payments would require congressional approval. So far, the pledge has not been formalized into an approved payment program.
