Israeli airstrikes on southern Lebanon kill four, injure 20

Israeli forces launched airstrikes on southern Lebanon on Sunday, which they said were in response to Hezbollah sending two drones toward their troops in what Israel calls the "security zone."

Army spokesperson Ella Wawia said on X: "Early this morning, the Chief of Staff's surprise drill 'Dawn Rising 2.0' was activated to test the readiness of the General Staff, main headquarters, alert systems, and the ability to respond to a large-scale, complex, multi-front incident."

She added that the strikes were "carried out in response to an attempted attack by the terrorist Hezbollah organization yesterday against army forces operating in the Ali Taher Heights area, during which two drones were launched toward the forces. There were no casualties among our troops."

Meanwhile, Lebanon's Ministry of Health Emergency Operations Center reported a preliminary toll of four killed and 20 wounded in the Israeli strikes.

The Lebanese National News Agency said the airstrikes focused on the Nabatieh area in southern Lebanon, with warplanes launching a series of raids that killed two women in the town of Arabsalim and destroyed homes in Nabatieh, Nabatieh Al-Fawqa, and Arabsalim.

According to the agency, another strike damaged part of the Ghandour Hospital in Nabatieh, a facility that has been out of service for years, resulting in injuries.

The agency also reported that Israeli aircraft carried out more strikes around the Dabsha Hill near Nabatieh Al-Fawqa, while artillery intermittently shelled Doha Kfar Roummane and the Dabsha Hill area.
