Iranian adviser says regional states can secure own safety through cooperation

Ali Akbar Velayati, adviser to Iran's Supreme Leader, said that countries in the region are capable of ensuring their own security through enhanced cooperation.

Velayati added that foreign powers are the main cause of instability and should leave the region.

In related diplomatic developments, the Axios website reported that Iranian negotiators are awaiting final approval from Iran's Supreme National Security Council regarding an agreement with Oman and the United States.

Diplomats expect the Supreme National Security Council to approve the agreement soon, though no specific date has been set.
