Syria condemns Israeli official's entry, calls for end to violations

Syria on Thursday condemned the unauthorized entry of an Israeli government official into Syrian territory, saying the crossing of international borders constituted a blatant violation of the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said these hostile actions amounted to a clear provocation and a violation of international law and the UN Charter, as well as a breach of the 1974 Disengagement Agreement, which stipulates respect for ceasefire lines and prohibits crossing them.

Syria called on the international community to fulfill its legal and political responsibilities by taking necessary measures to compel Israeli authorities to halt repeated violations, withdraw immediately and completely from Syrian territory entered by its forces, return to the disengagement line, and respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic.
