US treasury secretary: private talks with China on Iran yield more agreement than differences

US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has revealed that the United States has held private discussions with China regarding Iran, stressing that Washington and Beijing have more points of agreement than disagreement on the Iranian issue, as the US administration prepares to intensify economic pressure on Tehran.

Besant stated that the United States has had "private discussions with China on Iran," adding that "the points of agreement with China on Iran outweigh the differences."

This US-China engagement comes as Besant announced that Washington is determined to tighten its economic grip on the Iranian regime, affirming there will be "zero tolerance," and noting that the United States sees "signs of financial collapse in Tehran."

The Treasury Secretary explained that Washington intends to pursue illicit assets belonging to the Iranian regime, which he said were "stolen from the people," and is considering imposing sanctions on aircraft leasing companies dealing with Tehran.

In the same context, Besant indicated that sanctions may be imposed on a bank cooperating with Iran within a week, as part of ongoing US efforts to increase economic pressure on Tehran.
