Iranian Revolutionary Guard asserts control over Strait of Hormuz

Iran's Revolutionary Guard has reiterated Tehran's right to control the Strait of Hormuz.

The Guard added that managing the Strait is a "source of Iran's geopolitical strength" and will be conducted under its authority and supervision.

In a related development, an Iranian official told Reuters there has been no progress regarding a return to the memorandum of understanding or the United States' commitment to it.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a central point of contention between the United States and Iran, as Tehran insists on its right to manage the waterway, while U.S. President Donald Trump demands it remain open and secure for maritime navigation.
