Russian embassy in Yemen voices concern over Red Sea, Gulf of Aden maritime threats

The Russian embassy in Yemen has expressed concern over threats to international maritime navigation in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

This comes after an escalation by the Iran-backed Houthi militias in the region, which has raised international fears about the safety of shipping in the Bab Al-Mandab Strait.

The militias continue to commit human rights violations inside Yemen. Ali Humaid Al-Ahdal, director general of media in Al Hudaydah governorate, told Al-Hadath that Houthi forces have killed more than 150 civilians and looted over 150 homes in Hays and Al-Khawkhah in the past 72 hours.
