Lebanese army prepares to deploy in Zawtar Al-Gharbiya after Israeli withdrawal

The Lebanese army has announced that its military units continue to carry out their duties in the southern regions, including the towns of Frun in Bint Jbeil and Srifa in Tyre. This comes as arrangements are underway for the deployment of units in Zawtar Al-Gharbiya, Nabatieh, following the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the area.

In a statement, the army said coordination is ongoing with the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L) in preparation for the deployment of its units in Zawtar Al-Gharbiya after the withdrawal is complete.

The army command called on citizens not to travel to Zawtar Al-Gharbiya at this time and urged them to comply with the instructions of deployed military units to ensure their safety.

This development follows the United States' announcement on Monday of the start of operations in the first pilot areas in southern Lebanon, in line with the framework agreement brokered by the US with Israel.

The US State Department said in a statement that pilot area operations began Monday in the towns of Frun, Srifa, and Zawtar Al-Gharbiya, in accordance with the trilateral framework and under the supervision of the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon.
