Two US soldiers killed in Apache helicopter crash in Texas

Two US soldiers were killed on Wednesday when a military Apache helicopter from Fort Hood crashed in a field in Bell County, Texas, causing a large fire in the area.

Officials said the incident occurred in Bell County, about 100 kilometers north of Austin, the Texas state capital.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott confirmed on X that an Apache helicopter crashed in Bell County during operations at Fort Hood, resulting in the deaths of two US Army personnel.

Fort Hood confirmed in a statement that an AH-64 attack helicopter crashed, killing two soldiers.

Cliff Coleman, an official in Bell County, said emergency teams responded to the scene to manage the aftermath and the fire that broke out following the crash.

Photos shared by Coleman showed firefighters inspecting the charred wreckage of the helicopter amid a wide area of scorched grass, with smoke rising from the crash site. He noted that several local fire departments rushed to help extinguish the blaze and deal with the aftermath of the crash.
