The US Treasury Department announced on Friday that the United States has imposed new sanctions related to Iran, targeting three entities headquartered in Turkey.

According to a statement on its website, the targeted entities are Golden Global Portfolio Management, Golden Global Asset Leasing, and Golden Global Investment Bank. The Treasury also issued a new general license allowing for the gradual winding down of transactions with the sanctioned entities.

In an official statement published on its website and shared via its account on X, the department said this move is the latest step in the US administration's campaign to exert economic pressure on Tehran, six months after Washington began its standoff with Iran, which has driven up energy prices.

A Treasury spokesperson, who last month announced tougher economic sanctions on Iran, said Washington aims to force Tehran back to the negotiating table.

The spokesperson added in an interview with Reuters last Sunday that the Treasury is expected to introduce new secondary sanctions each week, initially focusing on banks, as part of a broader campaign to intensify economic pressure on Iran.
