Trump says agreement with Iran on Hormuz Strait, nuclear program near

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that there is an agreement regarding the Strait of Hormuz, adding that another deal concerning Iran’s nuclear program will also be reached.

Trump added that the United States is currently holding talks with Iran on the framework for negotiations, noting that discussions are set to begin Monday evening.

The US president affirmed that Washington is ready to move forward at any time, signaling its preparedness to start the anticipated round of talks with Tehran.

Trump had announced early Sunday that he recently received a formal request from Iran and several Middle Eastern countries to postpone a major attack, following the outline of a preliminary agreement between the two sides.

He indicated that the expected agreement will include the immediate and full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as an end to the Iranian nuclear threat.

Trump added that he agreed to call off military action, stressing that the decision was made in the interest of the world’s future and to ensure Iran’s continued success and prosperity, provided a swift agreement is reached.
