Thai authorities have maintained a state of alert as widespread flooding continues to affect the country, impacting around 3.26 million people since the onset of the crisis. The death toll has risen to 31, including four fatalities in the capital, Bangkok.

Nirat Bunjsitthithawan, Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation, said the floods were triggered by heavy rainfall and water flowing from northern regions.

Authorities have issued flood warnings for areas along the Chao Phraya River, as well as for Vichapun, Chachoengsao, and several southern provinces, due to water accumulation and forecasts of further rain.

In Bangkok, officials advised motorists to avoid several waterlogged roads, including Chao Khun Thahan, Chalong Krung, Luang Faeng, and Lat Krabang.

Flooding persists amid official warnings

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has warned of the likelihood of heavy rainfall across much of the south this week.

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation also reported that flooding remains in Bangkok and 27 other provinces, including Vichapun, Nakhon Sawan, Lopburi, Kanchanaburi, Suphan Buri, Ayutthaya, Ratchaburi, Phetchaburi, Nakhon Nayok, Prachin Buri, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Buriram, Chaiyavom, and Surin.
