Iran accuses IAEA of paving way for war through political bias

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei has accused International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi of turning the agency into a link in a chain connecting technical reports to political justification and ultimately to war.

Writing on X, Baghaei said that IAEA reports have become tools for shaping narratives of threat and creating political and legal grounds against Iran. As a result, he argued, the line between technical oversight and facilitating conditions for military attacks has become increasingly blurred.

Baghaei asserted that the credibility of the agency as an independent and neutral institution is being damaged, and that it has played a role in politically preparing the ground for illegal war. He added, "As long as aggressive actions and illegal American interventions continue, the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz cannot be guaranteed."

The spokesman also referred today to plans for a meeting in Oman next Monday, which will include Iraq and Gulf littoral states. He emphasized that Iran remains firmly committed to building trust and cooperation among regional countries, aiming to strengthen peace and stability away from divisive and destructive interference by external parties.

Baghaei further stated that responsibility for military attacks and war crimes should not rest solely with those who give orders or carry out attacks, but also with those who help establish the political or legal grounds, or provide documents used to justify such actions.
